Own a Piece of Maverick History: Moore Catholic selling 100 pieces of old turf field

Calling all Moore Catholic alumni!

Here’s your chance to get a piece of Maverick history and it’s a unique one.

When the school announced last month it was replacing its old turf field with a new red playing surface, the administration at the school came up with an ingenious idea of selling 100, one-yard pieces of the old field as a keepsake.

Well, the school’s athletic director, J.C. Albano, on Friday announced the offer in an email to all alumni.

“It is with great pride that I share with you this unique opportunity to own a piece of Moore Catholic history! Following the school’s announcement of the installation of the new red turf field, we will keep 100-yards of the old turf field and sell each yard to anyone interested. We are limited to only one-hundred pieces, so we ask that you reserve yours today,” wrote Albano.

Albano is calling it a donation to the school’s athletic department and there are two ways to get some turf.

1. For a 1-yard field swatch, make a $125 donation to Maverick Athletics.

2. For a personalized and framed 1-yard field swatch, make a $250 donation to Maverick Athletics. (Please limit the customization to your name, jersey number, sport and years you attended the Graniteville school).

“This will be a very special gift and we hope you consider supporting your alma mater through this fundraiser,” said Albano.

To reserve your Maverick keepsake, interested parties are asked to email jcalbano@moorechs.org by March 26, 2021.

The new field is expected to be ready by the end of the school year. The old turf was installed in the early 2000s.
