When the school announced last month it was replacing its old turf field with a new red playing surface, the administration at the school came up with an ingenious idea of selling 100, one-yard pieces of the old field as a keepsake.
“I’m excited to get back out on the field,” East Islip junior wideout/defensive back Derek Burrell said. “Last year [in 2019, actually] we practiced up until Thanksgiving and it got even colder than it is now… I honestly didn’t think we would be out here, but I’m glad we are.”
Moore Catholic’s school colors are red and black. Now, the Maverick colors will be flaunted on a new artificial athletic surface that will soon be installed, according to the school’s athletic director, J.C. Albano.
