LandTek Group Completes Construction of KNIGHT RIDERS CRICKET GROUND AT THE FAIRPLEX IN POMONA LA. A New Home for Major League Cricket and the Future Olympic LA28 Venue

BAY SHORE, N.Y. — The LandTek Group, a TenCate company, specializing in the delivery of high‑performance athletic facilities, has completed construction of the Knight Riders Cricket Pitch at The Fairplex in Pomona, California. The purpose‑built cricket stadium will serve as the home of the Los Angeles Knight Riders (LAKR) and a cornerstone venue supporting cricket’s return, after more than a century, to the Olympic Games in 2028. The facility hosted its first Major League Cricket match on July 1 against defending champions the Washington Freedom.

The project represents a significant step forward for professional cricket infrastructure in the United States. Through its first three seasons, Major League Cricket operated without specific designated home grounds, with teams competing across neutral venues in cities including Oakland, Dallas, and Lauderhill before playoffs were staged in Dallas. The Knight Riders Cricket Ground establishes Los Angeles as a permanent market on the league calendar and provides LAKR with a dedicated home venue as the league continues to expand.

Located within Fairplex, a 487‑acre public events and entertainment campus, the new cricket pitch expands the venue’s long‑standing portfolio of major cultural, recreational, and sporting events. The addition of a dedicated cricket stadium introduces one of the world’s most widely followed sports to the Fairplex campus and further reinforces Pomona’s role as a destination for high‑profile athletic competition.

A ceremonial groundbreaking for the Knight Riders Cricket Field was held on April 22 at the Fairplex site, marking a milestone in the project’s development. The completed venue now stands as a key asset within the broader growth of cricket in the United States and its connection to the sport’s return to the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

“This exciting project represents the growth of cricket in the United States,” said John Sulinski, Chief Operating Officer at The LandTek Group. “We’re proud to bring our expertise to the Fairplex in Pomona and create the home for The Knight Riders, another stop for Major League Cricket Tournaments (MLC) and the future venue for cricket in the LA28 Olympics”.

LandTek delivered the project on time with a focus on professional‑grade performance, durability, and long‑term operational flexibility. The facility was designed to support elite‑level match play, team training and operations, and fan engagement, while meeting the technical standards required for international competition.  Construction included the development of a natural grass pitch block utilizing a specialized clay soil profile to support professional competition. The project involved the movement of approximately 32,000 metric tons of earth, multiple utility infrastructure challenges, composite soil and stone mixtures which all highlight the scale and complexity of delivering this cricket facility. The work reflects LandTek’s specialized expertise in building high‑performance sports venues within extremely tight schedule constraints.

“The Knight Riders Cricket Ground, LA, is much more than a stadium; it is a statement of intent for the future of cricket. For the Knight Riders Group, becoming the first global cricket brand to establish an international cricket stadium is a proud milestone and reflects our belief in building world-class infrastructure for the game’s growth,” said Venky Mysore, CEO, Knight Riders Sports “We are grateful to LandTek for being an outstanding partner in bringing this vision to life. Their commitment, speed, and quality of execution have been critical in creating a venue that players, fans, and the local community can proudly call their cricketing home.”

“The opening of Knight Riders Cricket Ground marks an important milestone for Major League Cricket and the sport’s continued rise in the United States,” said Johnny Grave, CEO of Major League Cricket. “A dedicated home for the Los Angeles Knight Riders gives fans in Southern California a true destination for world-class cricket, while further establishing Los Angeles as a key market for the league and the sport’s return to the Olympic stage at LA28. We commend LandTek, Fairplex and the Knight Riders organization for bringing this vision to life and helping create a lasting platform for cricket’s growth.”

The stadium is expected to serve as a foundation for sustained cricket activity in Southern California, supporting professional competition while strengthening community connection to the sport. Los Angeles is widely regarded as one of the world’s most dynamic sports markets, and the addition of Knight Riders Cricket Ground further elevates the region’s role within the global cricket landscape.

In a previously issued statement, Shah Rukh Khan, Co‑Owner of Knight Riders Sports, said, “The USA is a great sporting market with passionate fans, and this field will create a place where people can come together to celebrate the game and support the team. This stadium represents an important chapter for the Knight Riders in Los Angeles.”

As cricket prepares for its return to the Olympic stage, the Knight Riders Cricket Field highlights the growing commitment to infrastructure supporting the sport’s expansion in the United States. The venue is now positioned to serve athletes, fans, and international competition for years to come.
