The LandTek Group Partners with Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation, LISC, and the NFL to Level the Playing Field for HBCUs in Georgia and Alabama

BAY SHORE, NY – August 23rd, 2024 – The LandTek Group, a leading sports facility construction company is excited to announce their partnership with the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation, Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) and The NFL Foundation. The organizations came together to embark on a transformative initiative to construct sports fields at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) in Georgia and Alabama.

HBCUs were established around 1867 with the intention of providing higher education for students of primarily African descent.

The initiative, “Leveling the Playing Field”, is generously being funded by the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation and the NFL Foundation to provide grants to HBCUs in Alabama and Georgia. Clark Atlanta University, Albany State University, Savannah State University and Miles College are the first grant recipients in 2024. This new partnership presents an exceptional opportunity for student-athletes and will foster equity on a broader scale. The sports facilities will not only serve as a hub for athletic excellence but also will increase playability for student-athletes and community members alike, as fields will be community accessible.

The LandTek Group is honored to be a part of this philanthropic endeavor and was responsible for overseeing all aspects of the project, including project management, civil sitework, specialized subsurface drainage systems and synthetic turf field installations. The collaboration represents LandTek’s commitment to enhancing opportunities for student-athletes, fostering community development within HBCUs, and building champions from the ground up.

Albany State University in Albany, Georgia, converted the natural grass football and soccer field at Albany State University Coliseum to synthetic turf.

Miles College in Fairfield, Alabama, designed and built a new synthetic turf practice facility.

Clark Atlanta University in Atlanta, replaced the current artificial turf at Panther Stadium and upgraded the stadium infrastructure.

Savannah State University in Savannah, Georgia, replaced the synthetic turf at the current football and soccer field at Ted Wright Stadium.
